 Gator Smart Watch

 Gator Smart Watch

Less of a smart watch and more of a tracker. Gator watch might not be the smartest of smartwatches in the modern sense, but that’s not to say that it isn’t a really solid bit of tech. The device itself looks fairly Spartan. There’s no touch screen or in-built games or any distractions. This is a watch, first and foremost. With a nice soft rubbery strap which reminded me of the old Casio watches are popular then. The device is controlled via three buttons on the right-hand side and two on the left. The Truth About Wristwatches And Kids

The Truth About Wristwatches And Kids

In recent years, cell phones have become normal things for nearly all people to have and carry. Many people use their cell phones as a timepiece. I cannot even explain just how many times a customer has come in and said, ‘I guess you people don’t sell wristwatches anymore?’. Yes, we sell a lot of watches’ and lately there have noticed a trend towards the younger generation buying watches.

Below Are Info Kids’ Wristwatches

gds

Theoritically, ten or fifteen years ago, kids (from 15 years) had kid style watches. When they got their cell phones, they ditches their kids wristwatches as they wore them out or outgrew them and used  the phone as the timekeeper. Now, those ‘kids’ range from college-age to young professionals and may view wristwatches  in a company different light. They may realize that a watch is actually a more convenient method of telling time and also may serve to define a personal style or make a statement about ones station in life. A growing number of brides-to-be purchase a nice watch for the groom as a wedding gift, with the wedding date engraved on the back.

kj

Wristwatches ‘may be going the way of the abacus’ declared a news article in The  Sacramento Bee in 2006. The times of London had it ‘going the same way as the sundial’ The Boston Globe, in a 2005 lifestyle feature, was more definitive. Anyone who needs to know the time these days would be wise to ask someone over the age of 30. To most young people, wristwatches are now becoming an  obsolete artifact.’

q

The watch is experiencing a major uptick especially among members of the supposed lost generation.

As recently as five years ago, time seemed to be running out for the wristwatch.  With cellphones, Ipods and other clock-equipped devices being omnipresent, armchair sociologists were writing off wristwatches as  antiquated, joining and pocket calculators on the list of outmoded gadgets. I don’t see the watch becoming an obsolete gadget anytime soon.

Parental knowledge of their students’ backpack weight and contents was assessed by identifying many students who carried backpacks weighing at least 10% of their body weights through a survey of many students in elementary schools. Most parents of over 96% had never checked their child’s backpack weight; 34% had never checked the backpack contents.

Backpacks represent a common consumer product in our modern school system. However, their use may not always be without some adverse health effects. Every year school age children make more than 10,000 backpack related office or emergency room visits foreign countries. Carrying book bags on one shoulder significantly altered children’s posture and gait. While school children carry these heavy, one size fits all backpacks, it is uncertain that all the items would be needed on the days the backpacks are carried to school. Yet, one wonders how many parents ever take the time to check the weights or contents of these backpacks. We designed this study to assess parental knowledge of the weight and contents of their elementary school child’s backpack.

Subjects And Methods On Kids’ Backpacks

Subjects And Methods On Kids’ Backpacks

Subjects include students attending elementary schools who carry backpacks that weigh 10% or more of their body weights. The study was approved by our institutional review board.  The weight and height of each child who returns a written parental consent, were determined along with their backpack weight, demographic data, and type of backpack. Students whose backpacks weighed 10%  or more of their body weights were surveyed further to obtain additional information, including backpack contents. To assure quality, the survey instrument was protested, only calibrated weighing scales were used, some research staff were given intensive training on measurements, and the same person filled out the survey forms at each particular school to reduce interviewer variability.

Discussion On Children’s Backpacks

Discussion On Children’s Backpacks

Most of the study show that majority of parents, whose children’s backpacks weigh 10% or more of their body weights, do not know the backpack weights or contents. Paradoxically, many of the published reports on backpack safety have focused on older children, adult use in the work place or for recreational hiking, and military personnel. Few reports have focused on young children. It is easy to underestimate the large supply demands required of children in our modern educational system. Carrying a day’s worth of books, supplies, gym clothes, and the myriad of items treasured by children for many hours is a difficult task.

Back-To-School Shopping Tips For Kids’ Shoes

The start of a new school year brings two certainties: new clothes and new shoes. Unlike in years past, today’s shelves are stocked with a variety of shoe types than run the gamut in style and fit. As such, parents have much more to consider when shopping for back-to-school shoes. To make things easier at the shoe store, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) offers helpful guidelines in a quick-reference infographic to help minimize foot problems caused by poorly fitting or worn out shoes.

Below Are Few Shopping Tips For Kids’ Shoes

Kids’ Shoes Should Fit Your Children

Kids’ Shoes Should Fit Your Children

Your child’s feet can grow up to two sizes in six months, so you need to account for growth when buying shoes. That does not mean you should buy shoes that are too big oversized shoes cause the foot to slide forward, putting excessive pressure on the toes. Foot and ankle surgeons suggest a good fit is about a finger’s width from the end of the shoe to the tip of the big toe. Tight kids’ shoes can cause blisters, corns and calluses on your child’s toes, blisters on the back of the heels or worse, ingrown nails, which can become infected. Signs of infection from ingrown nails include pain, redness or fluid draining from the area. If you notice any of these symptom, schedule an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon, who can perform a simple, safe in-office procedure to remove the nail.

Kids’ Shoes Wear Out

Shoes lose their shock absorption over time, so inspect new and old shoes for proper cushioning and arch support. Foot and ankle surgeons caution, worn-out shoes elevate the risk for heel pain, Achilles tendonitis and even ankle sprains and stress fractures. Replace any shoes with wear and tear around the edges of the sole. When buying shoes, check to see that the toe box flexes easily and the shoe does not bend in the middle of the sole.

Kids’ Shoes When Children Have Flat Feet

Children with flat feet need shoes with a wide toe box, maximum arch support and shock absorption. The best shoes to buy are Oxford, lace-up shoes that have enough depth for an orthotic insert, if necessary.

Few Lessons On How To Get A Child’s School Shoe

Few Lessons On How To Get A Child’s School Shoe

Researching which school shoes to buy can leave parents feeling like they’re failing at comprehension. Why are some expensive? Are the cheaper ones OK? Buckles, Velcro or laces? And why-in-the name-of-all-that’s-holy do my kids wear them out so quickly. It’s an annual dilemma for parents of school-aged kids (and sometimes a bi-annual dilemma if the kids have a growth spurt). In the January back-to-school frenzy, you’ll find ‘school-suitable’ shoes from as little as #4,000 to more than #10,000. So how do you know which ones to choose?.

Reasons For  A Good School Shoe For Children

1

The bones in young children’s feet don’t fuse together until puberty. Kids’ feet can lack muscle strength and be prone to hypermobility, so firm, supportive shoes help protect their feet while they’re growing. A good school shoe provide stable home for immature bones. Without that support, children are in danger of developing flat feet, sore knees, shin splints and even back pain. A good shoe that fits properly is important.

Things To Look Out For in A School Shoe

3

The best kind of school shoe should be supportive, durable and comfortable with a good gripping sole. Here’s what you should look for:

Flexibility in the front. Pick up the shoe and try to bend it by pushing the toe upwards. A good shoe will bend at the ball of the foot but no further. This helps your child push off with their toes while keeping the back half of their foot stable and secure.

A good school shoe will have a small heel. While this may sound counterintuitive, a low heel keeps your child’s foot in a neutral position. An entirely flat school shoe can cause your child’s toes to claw when walking.

The Sock liner or insole should be soft comfortable and made of an absorbant fabric to reduce sweating. You should be able to remove it easily, in case you need to replace it with an orthotic.

A school shoe should not be heavy. A heavy shoe can mean muscle pain and foot aches, especially for little people.

A leather upper lasts longer and allow your child’s feet to breathe.
