As we all know, Africa is a continent of spirit and colour. It has come a long way in producing things that has distinguished it from every other continent and has drawn people to it .Fashion wise, African attire has made a significant contribution to the world of design.

African traditional clothing is colourful, unique and quite comfortable. As a vast continent, Africa have thousands of different tribes. Each of these tribes has its own unique language, culture, faith, tradition and way of life. Following this, the way the people of these various tribes dress varies a great deal too. That is why, when we talk of traditional African clothing it could include a variety of clothing from dresses made of grass to intricately designed kaftans.

Below is a general overview of the kind of traditional attire adorned by men

Among the various styles that are sported by the African men, they use the large shirt known as Danshiki. This traditional shirt is very long, airy and ends a few inches above the knee. Its sleeves are below length. There are a variety of patterns and designs on these shirts, especially near the base of the shirt and also around the neck. Danshiki are normally parked with traditional men`s pants, also named `shokoto`. Danshiki have not lost their charm and are worn by men with pants or jeans.

Furthermore, another item of clothing that is included in traditional men`s clothing is called the `Fila` . This traditional cap that is sported along with the rest of the outfit. It is more like the scarf worn by African women , whenever they are in their African attire, this Fila is an accessory without which the traditional African men`s wear is considered incomplete.

Conclusively, the way the people of a particular tribe or region in Africa attire, depends a great deal on the weather of that particular region. Although, culture and faith are equally important deciding factors when it comes to fabrics, Africans prefer natural fibres which are durable as well.
