Nude lippie are just timeless. I have written a huge amount on red lippie foe a while, so people often assume I’ll be scornful of a more restrained look. The truth is, I adore nudes and wear them a good deal more often. I’m fussy about the terminology, however: a nude lippie should be any colour skin skin or lips could conceivably be, not the generic beige of Caucasian support stocking. A muted beigey-rose is my default daytime lipstick shade , because it goes with any eye look and is always smart and appropriate.

One of the chicest, subtle yet sexy ways to do the nude lippie look is with a matte nude lip. It draws attention to the centre to your face, and works so well with a bold eye makeup look. You can glow with a loving Tom Ford’s Lipstick in Blush Nude to create a gorgeous, nude matte finish

Nude needn’t be realistic or demure: in a slightly paler tone than your own lips, they’re sexy. Nude lippie is amongst my most worn  lipsticks and looks particularly good with smoky shadow and dramatic lashes. It’s one of those pale 1960’s sex kitten nudes, but not one that’s so washed out that you appear either consumptive or dressed as Dusty Springfield. It also comes in a liner that matches perfectly and can be worn around almost any lipstick to define or enlarge the lips. One side of my mouth is lower than the other. I always correct with it.

There’s no denying our love for nude lippie. We’ve got shades stashed in every corner of our lives purses, desk drawers, cars and likely even a pants pocket or two. And there’s no committing to just one shade, either; each occasion calls for its own carefully selected shade. We reach for red for a glam night out, orange when we want to spice it up, plum when we’re feeling vampy. But if we could prescribe one shade that should be in every woman’s arsenal, it wold be the perfect natural
